Hello everyone. I am currently 6 months pregnant with my first child and my doctor suspect that my baby has sb. My husband and I are devastated. What is the next step? My doctors can't seem to give me any straight answers. This may seem like a stupid question but if babies that are diagnosed with sb have some sort of paralysis, why is my son so active in the womb? Does one not have anything to do with the other? Is it just wishful thinking that this diagnosis is incorrect?

Thanks for your time.

From what I've read, there's a lot you can do. If your Dr. suspects the baby has SB, then you should probably try to schedule a 4D ultrasound to confirm this. If so, there's surgery they can do before the baby is born that seems to prevent a lot of the obstacles other SB babies face. My daughter was born with SB and we had no idea, I took all my vitamins, ate healthy, stayed active, went to all my appointments and she was VERY active in the womb. We had NO clue. So, consider yourself lucky to have the heads up, do lots of research and ask lots of questions. Here's a link to great blog by a mom who's baby had the surgery before she was born -- very inspirational and informative -- http://www.ruths-story.com/.
