Hello everyone, I am 27 soon to be 28 and I have spina bifida. I wear braces and have hydrocephalus but don't have a shunt. I have been self-cathing since I was 11 and I am very independent. I don't drive but hope to soon. I work and have a good social life.The only problem I have encountered over the years is trying to find a good doctor. I went to the Spina Bifida clinic in Orlando up until I was 21. Since then I have had a hard time finding doctors who know a lot about spina bifida or doctors that except medicaid. Thankfully, recently I found a doctor that is about 30 minutes away from where I live that takes my insurance and she knows a lot about spina bifida so I am hopeful this will be a good doctor for me. I think this a great site for people to talk about spina bifida and what they experience with this disability. Thank you to Nicole and Boris.
